Officer Joshua Evans Promoted to Sergeant
On February 25, 2026, Officer Joshua Evans was promoted to Sergeant in the Jackson Township Police Department. A ceremony was held at the Jackson Township Municipal building, noting the promotion.

Special & Community Events that Jackson Township Police Department have recently participated in!
The Jackson Township Police Department participated in the National Night Out sponsored by the Dallas Township Police Department on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Misericordia University.

Officer Robert Urban and Officer Robert Callahan participated in the PA State Police Sunny Day Camp on June 10, 2026, at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds. Sunny Day Camp was founded in 2016 to promote positive relations between police and children/adults with special needs. This is a program where no one is left out of learning about law enforcement agencies that serve their community.
The Jackson Township Police Department sponsored its annual Scout Pack 281 Bicycle Rodeo at the Jackson Township Recreation Park on June 8, 2026. Sergeant Josh Evans and Officer Todd Grudzinski hosted the participants.

Officer Holly Palchanis of the Jackson Township Police Department posed as Mrs. Santa Claus for the Back Mountain Police Association annual “Warm Coats For Kids Campaign”. The event was very successful as many kids in need received a nice warm coat for the winter courtesy of the members of the Back Mountain Police.

Back Mountain Police Association Clothing Drive
Officer Holly Palchanis participated in a clothing drive for children. This drive was sponsored by the Back Mountain Police Association. Luzerne County Children & Youth Services were the recipients of the clothing and were extremely happy with the generous amount of clothing that the BMPA paid for and donated. Officer Palchanis is pictured to the left along with Sergeant Michael Huntzinger, Kingston Township Police and Officer Gina Kotowski and Luzerne County Children & Youth Services representatives.

A MESSAGE FROM CHIEF WILLIAMS:
Hello, my name is Gerald “Jerry” Williams. On April 17, 2021, I was appointed by the Jackson Township Board of Supervisors as the new Chief of Police of Jackson Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
For those of you who do not know me, I come to you with thirty years of police service with the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), and an additional five years of past municipal police service, having served in Plymouth Township, Plymouth Borough and Kingston Police Departments.
I held the rank of Captain within the State Police and previously served as the Director, internal Affairs Division, Bureau of Integrity and Professional Standards. Some of my former duties included being the Executive Officer to the Commissioner, Executive Officer to the Deputy Commissioner of Operations, Internal Affairs Investigator, Polygraph Examiner, Criminal Investigator and Patrol Trooper.
I am humbled by the faith and trust the Jackson Township Board of Supervisors have placed in me to move our Police Department forward and I look ahead to this new opportunity to serve the citizens of Jackson Township.
